Wow What a Weekend

We had a great weekend.
Guess what we found in the back yard, its suppose to get a little colder this week but we don't care because we have found proof that spring is here.
Oh and more proof of spring we have also seen geese as they fly over head on their way north.

We had our usual weekend with the grandpawents and playing Jack on Saturday, but this weekend we did something a little different.
On Friday Sadie, her dad and I went to see a very close and dear friend of mine and her new little puppy.( Look how tiny she is)
The Puppy's name is Daphene and she is a four month old Chihuahua, she is suppose to have long hair but her hair hasn't grown in yet.
We already knew that us humans were friends and would get along fine because we had been friends for many years, but Sadie had never met little puppy Daphene before, so we decided that it would be best for them to meet outside on neutral ground.
And their meeting went great, Sadie now has a new little friend to play with, although we have to watch Sadie with Daphene a little more because she isn't used to being the big dog and could get a little to ruff.
Sadie said " She loved playing with little Daphene and had so much fun, but you sure do get tired chasing after a puppy."

Sadie: No Public Bathrooms for Dogs

In case you can't guess this is me, Sadie and I have a complaint about my TWO LEGGERS .

When I'm out for my walkies sometimes things happen like, you know what you put in has to come out.
And even though my two legger servants always clean it up, they try to make me wait till I get to the hole to do what a dog has to do.
I mean its not always easy to walk, check pee mail, wag your tail and be all cute and stuff when you have to make room for more treats.
And I might add I'm not the only dog that has this problem, I'm I?

In case you were wondering this is the hole.
If you are familiar with the coal mining areas you will know its a stripping hole, there is an old abandoned coal breaker and rail road tracks and the tracks are stilled used by a near by industrial park .

So I ask does it really matter if I leave a little present on the sidewalk.

Things Momo do Over the Weekend

we had weekly trip to the grandpawrents house this weekend, but Jack wasn't there, his dad had to work so they didn't come this weekend.
Even though Momo is a cat he still plays with and looks forward to spending time with Jack.

So while Sadie spent her Saturday hang out with her family and when Mo wasn't pouncing on the grandpawrent's kitten, Button, He found ways to amuse himself.
He had a lot of fun playing with a crazy bounce ball that makes a funny noise every time it moves.
Then he also though it was funny to look out the back door window with his dad when we had Sadie out side.

We had a cold rainy weekend with a lot of strong winds, so when Sadie and I where outside and with the leaves and stuff blowing in the wind, Momo thought it was really funny .

Why do I have to Wear a Collar Anyway

If you look at the picture above you will notice that Momo doesn't have a collar on.
He has had two collars in one week, he takes them off and plays with them until they are broke.
He runs around the house yelling " I'm free, free as a bird! "

This is Mo with his third collar, we had a talk with him and he seems to be keeping it on.
We told him that having a collar on makes him look hansom.
He said " I'm hansom without the collar."
We told him that having a collar makes him look charming.
He said " I have natural charm."
Then we told him that he has valuable information on his collar that would help him get home if he ever got lost.
So he has agreed to wear his collar at least for now.

What We've been Up to

The first thing we have been up to was Sadie grandparent's computer broke, it was a our computer before we upgraded to a laptop and it was about nine years old so it really needed to be upgraded .
So I went computer shopping with the grandparents, and then once they got one Sadie and I went to set it up for them.

Needless to say after all the computer stuff Sadie needed some Sadie time.
We have been having some really nice weather here the past few days with highs in the low fifties and can you believe most of our snow is gone, so we took Sadie for a long walk, while Momo sat in the window watching for us to get back.
Sadie Said " even though the grass is still brown and yucky, she enjoyed being able to walk freely down the sidewalk without having to walk around the snow piles.

Another thing that made this walk so different for Sadie was that we took a tip from our friend Captain and got a Puppia harness for her.
We would prefer Sadie to wear a harness because we know that dachshunds are prone to back problems and a harness would take some of the pressure of her neck and back.
We have had harnesses for her in the past but she would always chew them apart while she had them on.
But so far she seems to be doing well with this one .
So after Sadie had her dinner and Mo had his snack they had ice cream.

A local Ice cream place makes ice cream cups for dogs and cats, they call them kitty cups and doggy cups.
The doggy cups are topped with biscuits and the kitty cups are topped with cat food, kinda like sprinkles.
Maxx and Momo each got a kitty cup and Sadie got a doggy cup.
This was Momo's first taste of ice cream, so he had to taste Sadie's ice cream to see which one he liked better.
He decided he likes them both.

Making the Bed

We figure since we have complained about all the snow we had in February, the last couple of day, which by the way is melting quite nicely, we would talk about a place that is always warm and cozy and Sadie wanted to tell you how she helps change the sheets on the bed since she loves to be in bed anyway.

First Sadie starts by taking the old sheets off the bed.

Then once the old sheets are off, she starts to put the clean sheets on the bed.

This part gets tricky when you don't have thumbs, but you have to try to get the wrinkles out so the sheets could lay nice and flat.

But a good belly rub from dad while he sings The Belly Song is always a good reward and makes up for the hard work of making the bed and even the not having thumbs thing.

Oh you might be asking what we call The Bell Song.
When Sadie's dad rubs her belly, she likes him to sing to her " Rubbing the belly. Rubbing the Beeeellllyyy."
Sadie loves the song and doesn't feel he has given her a proper belly rub without the song.

So Much to Do

We are sorry we haven't posted much lately but February has been a busy month for us.
Not that we have had anything special going on, but as Sadie puts it " Did we do something to make Mother Nature mad at us ?"
We have had a few winter storms, but from two of the storms we have had over three feet of snow and Sadie's grandparents live in a higher elevation and they have had about four feet of snow with some pretty high snow drifts so there was a lot of shoveling going on here.

But what has been keeping Sadie, Momo and Maxx so busy is that their dad and I have been sick, which meant that we were trying to rest a lot and they felt the need to cuddle a lot to make us feel better.
The good news is that all the cuddling worked and Their dad and I are stating to feel a bit better, and the snow is starting to melt too.

One thing Sadie and Maxx didn't care for other than the snow, is that February is the month that they have their annual check up at the vet's office.

Sadie went first and the vet said she is really looks good but she was due for a shot, the vet was really quick when giving her the shot and let her stand up on her back legs and give me a hug while she tried to hide her face in my hair.
Sadie said " Being held by me when she got her shot made the hole thing a little better ."

Maxx went second and is in good heath to but needed to get two shots, the vet let me hold her to when she got her shots.
Our vet was pleased to see Maxx's O.C.D. seems to be under control a bit to, although there is some signs on her belly that show she has been licking it to much, she still has a lot of fur left on it.
Usually Maxx starts to lick all the hair off her belly and back legs when the leaves start to fall off the trees and she usually get worse when she sees the snow falling.
Maxx says " She doesn't like see things falling from the sky."
But even with all the snow we have had, she still has hair on her belly, we thing having The Mo Man around is helping her with her O.C.D.
Mo says " he is happy to help."
Our vet said that usually a cat with O.C.D. doesn't do well when you bring another cat into the house, but Maxx seems to be doing better with Momo around.

The Snow

This is cousin Jack in the snow at his house yesterday morning about 7:00 in the AM.
Jack is such a trooper, he doesn't let little things like snow bother him even though he's not a fan of it either.

But then there are snow storms like the one we had yesterday, we know places to our south have been getting hammered with snow this year.
But we got over a foot of snow in our back yard and some places in our area got over 2 feet with in less that a 24 hour period, it was snowing at a rate of over two inches an hour most of the day here.

Our local news stations have dubbed this storm February Furry and at sometimes referred to it as a blizzard.

We had a lot of roads closed yesterday like interstate 81 was closed from the interstate 80 junction (which is by Jack's house) to the Maryland boarder until sometime last night,so how is a small dog suppose to get around if the humans can't even get around.
We are sure all the ski resorts in the area were happy with the snow once the roads were opened, but we are just saying when your legs are only three inches long its hard to get around and Sadie said " She doesn't know how to ski anyway but if it made it easier to get around in the snow, she would learn how to ski".

Just keep thinking Spring!

Our New Fountain

We got a new fountain because our old one stopped working and Maxx Says " Her O.C.D wouldn't allow her to drink stagnant water from a bowl, Her drinking water has to be bottle and from a fountain."

This is our third fountain in about five years, so we decided to go with a different kind of pet fountain.
The water is pumped up the middle and flows over a dome, which if your a cat, this means your whiskers don't get wet when you have a drink.

Maxx tried the new fountain out last night and said " This will do."
While Sadie said " It will take some getting use to."

Momo on the other hand says " He likes how he can drink the water from right off the dome, but he also likes to watch it and he likes to play with the water as it flows over the dome!"
We think he will stop playing with the fountain soon because his paws get wet.

Saver a Dog

We have added a new widget to our side bar, its called Save a Dog.
Its a Facebook application where you can help shelter dogs by virtually adopt a shelter dog, taking them for virtual walks and arranging virtual play dates for them with your Facebook friends.
And when you interact with your virtual foster dog, you build up points and the points in return are converted in to real cups of food to help feed the shelter dogs.
You could even virtually foster your favorite breed of dog.
We usually foster wiener dogs for obvious reasons.
Sadie says " She feels like she is doing a small part to help her fellow wiener dogs in need." and she plays every day.

Its a great ways to help shelter dogs , it only takes a minute or two of your time and its another game you could play with your friends on Facebook.
If you prefer the furry little felines they also have an app for Save a Cat.

Happy Super-bowl Sunday

Its cold and we have snow on the ground ( we got lucky we didn't get much snow from the last storm)and the big game is on today!

Sadie is looking forward to the game because when the humans are focused on the big game cheering for the Saints, she will be scouting for the food.
And it not just human food, its the good stuff like pizza, all different kinds of chips, big sandwiches, hot wings and things that the humans call junk food !
Sadie says " She can't wait, she never had hot wings before."
And lets not forget that the Animal Planet has the Puppy bowl on before the Super-bowl, and Momo is looking forward to the kitty half time show.

It's Ground Hog Day

It's Ground Hog Day and when Sadie went out for her morning squeege she still had to put up the hood on her coat.

Yep if you hadn't heard yet old Gus saw his shadow.
We had asked Mr. G Hog to predict an early spring, but he saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter.
Thats a bummer, but we where thinking about this and you know it seems like he sees his shadow more times then not.

We think we might have to give old Gus a pass on this shadow thing because with all those cameras flashing and stuff, how could he not see his shadow.
And with all those people around him, well it could be a little intimidating for him.

But anyway we still keep our hopes up for spring to arrive.

The Weekend Started Off Good

Sadie thought her weekend started off good.
On Saturday she went to her grand pawrence's house and had a great time playing with Jack, Momo and Button and it was also a day full of belly rubs.

But then Sunday came and Sunday was the day she went to get her nails done.
Sadie refers to getting her nails trimmed as torture.
Sadie says " She thinks getting your nails done really stinks !! "

Theres the Fish !

The other day we posted a picture of the Mo Man looking for his fishie fish.

Well sometimes we have to watch when he is playing because he puts his toy fishie fish in the water fountain.
Momo says " He likes to see him swim ! "

I guess he likes his catnip in tea form.

Trying to Think Spring !

As we where waking up trying to rub the sand man out of our eyes, this is what we woke up to see.
As Sadie went out for her morning squeege she did some snooping.
Yep its SNOW.
Our weather lady didn't predict this to come, but its here anyway.
We have been trying to think spring.
We even have a request in to Punksatony Phil for an early spring.
The way we see it is that he is only the most important ground hog in PA, so we where thinking that since he predicts when spring comes around here anyway, he could just make it happen.
Ground Hog Day is just a few days away, sooo heres hoping !

What is with the Weather

This was Sadie with her dad yesterday.
It was in the mid to low 50's with rain, Sadie said " It was nice hoodie weather".
We could have done with out the rain because in some places in our area are experiencing flooding, with the rain and the ice in the Susquehanna river melting .

And then today it is supposed to be only in the low to mid 30's.
We didn't have snow like our friend Frankie did, but Sadie is back to wearing her coat.
We have had colder weather here this year with high for the day only in the teens, but one warm day doesn't qualify as a January thaw.
So for now we will be keeping our paws crossed for our neighbors who are dealing with flooding and we will keep thinking SPRING.

The Order of the Pup Scouts

About a week or two ago Sadie joined the Pup Scouts of America.
And she got her first merit badge.
All she had to do was join the Pup Scouts of America over at our friends blog I Need A Sugar Fix and take the oath:

"On the honor of my paw I will do my best
to do my duty to my fur and non-fur community
& to obey the Pup Scout Law
to help other pups and their people at all times
to keep myself in tip top pup condition,
furry aware & ready at a moments notice.
"

and then she was n official Pup Scout.
( check out her membership card over in the side bar)

Yesterday they had their first meeting there were Pup Scout biscuits , they had a little Pup Scout education, and sang Pup Scout songs.
A good time was had by all, and if you would like to join the Pup Scouts of America head on over to I Need A Sugar Fix and leave a message for Candy, Captain and their mom.

Momo's Toofers

Momo only has his big kitty teeth.
His kitten teeth has finally fallen out.
His teeth look quite big in fact.
The Mo Man Says " He likes his toofers because they look just like a saber tooth tiger's toofers !"

We are just happy the teeth fell out on their own.

Our Weekend

The weather was soooooo much better this weekend, we almost got to 45 degrees here wich is a lot warmer than the teens we have been having.
Sadie and Momo where so happy with the warmer weather that they where smiling the whole weekend.

With Momo being is such a good mood, he wanted to play some more than usual but Button (hes playmate at my parent's house) had just had surgery on Monday.
Although she had a lot of penned up energy and wanted to play, she still had stitches from whowhoectomy so the playing had to be kept to a minimum.
Sadie got her Snuggie that her grandma got her for Christmas back. ( it had to be send back because it was to big.)
Sadie said ( The Snuggie is going to be a great thing to have when she gets a bath. Instead of curling up in a blankie after her bath she can put her Snuggie on and then curl up in a blanket.)

Don't Cry over Spilled Cat Food

It seems almost every time Momo eats he spills the food and when I tell him not to do it he says " Don't cry over spilled cat food."
You see every time Momo is done eating, he tries to bury the food.
We think he tries to bury his food because it was probably something his mom taught him to do when he was a little kitten living outside to hide the food from other animals.

I tried moving the food bowl to try to break his habit but it only works for a time or two .
( Momo eats a lot , he is a growing boy)
And when he and Maxx eat dry cat food they eat out of the same bowl and Maxx doesn't like the bowl moved so much because of her O. C.D.
Momo has his own bowl but when he is hungry he always goes to the closest food bowl and he also has a bowl for his moist food that he tries to bury too.

So I will just have to keep cleaning up spilled cat food until the Mo Man figures out he can't bury his food in the house.

A Winter's Cold

I have been dealing with a bit of cold.
Some animals react to you differently when you are sick, like Maxx doesn't want to spend as much time around me.
Maxx says " Call me when you are feeling better."
But nurse Sadie is always there to cuddle and share my pillow.
And Momo is also making sure I have all the snuggling I need.

Sometimes the best medicine comes from our pets.
