Sadie got a new coat.
I know other dogs have a hard time finding coats and sweater that fit just right, but when you are a dachshund its harder to find a coat that is just right.
After not being able to find a coat that Sadie and I both like and fit, her grandma and I decided to make her one.
Although I was never a Suzy Home Maker, we found making Sadie's coat fun and challenging.
We made her coat with two layers of fleece and a little hood to keep her ears warm.
( Sadie is always cold)
Sadie couldn't wait to try out her new coat, and it was good that we got it done with it when we did because we had snow and had to cut our visit at my parent's house short yesterday.
But Sadie tried it out when we got home while her dad shoveled an area in the back yard, so she would have a place to what she refers to take a squeege without getting snow on her bum.
Sadie was so warm in her new coat that she even jumped in the snow pile.
Sadie isn't usually a big fan of snow, so she wanted to pass on one of her secret snow tips " Before you go outside in the snow have your mom or dad put some Pam or some vegetable shortening on the pads of your feet, because it helps keep the snow from sticking between your toes and helps to insulate against the cold."
Very nice Sadie! and great little tip too.

OMD OMD are you SURE???? Pans on your feet????
ReplyDeleteI love your coat.. Your mom and grandma did a grrrreat job. Maybe I should have another talk with MY mom. I love my new Hoodie, BUTT you have a really WARM COAT. I'm all green with Jellyness.
Are you REALLY SURE ABOUT THAT PAN THINGY??? Which way do the handles point???? I don't think I would be able to "lift my leg" with a PAN on my Paw.
I know what you mean about needing a snow free zone for... leaving a tootsie roll trail. HEHEHE
Hi, Sadie!
ReplyDeleteSomething happened with my internet connection while I was writting!
Your Mom and Grandma did a pawesome job with your coat! Nothing fits me either so that is why my grandma makes my clothes!
We don't get snow here but sure your advice is very good!
Kisses and hugs

ReplyDeleteSadie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a very beautiful tailored made coat full of love. You are rather 'long waisted' (LOL) so we know how hard it is to find garments that fit properly. :-)!!!!
Toto, (my mini dachshund bro RIP) used to get in the winter he would sit right in front of the heating vents.
Big Hug
Madi and Mom
She looks so comfy in that! :-) Very cute!
