Don't Cry over Spilled Cat Food

It seems almost every time Momo eats he spills the food and when I tell him not to do it he says " Don't cry over spilled cat food."
You see every time Momo is done eating, he tries to bury the food.
We think he tries to bury his food because it was probably something his mom taught him to do when he was a little kitten living outside to hide the food from other animals.

I tried moving the food bowl to try to break his habit but it only works for a time or two .
( Momo eats a lot , he is a growing boy)
And when he and Maxx eat dry cat food they eat out of the same bowl and Maxx doesn't like the bowl moved so much because of her O. C.D.
Momo has his own bowl but when he is hungry he always goes to the closest food bowl and he also has a bowl for his moist food that he tries to bury too.

So I will just have to keep cleaning up spilled cat food until the Mo Man figures out he can't bury his food in the house.

  1. Hi Sadie
Our kitties try to bury their bowl of cat food. They don't spill the food, just try to bury the whole bowl.

  2. Ummmm, I hate to admit this, butt I do the exact same thing. Sorry I can't help you with this one.

  3. I know one day Momo will understand that nobody is going to steal his food!
My mom appreciates that she does not have to clean anything... I never leave a single piece of kibble!
    Kisses and hugs

  4. Hi Sadie!!!
Oh do we feel your mom's pain. Madi is a sloppy eater...well maybe that isn't that right term. When she eats her dry food she will take a bit then turn to eat it over the TWO placemats under her food dropping all the little pieces. I finally decided she doesn't like crumbs in her food. However she makes up for this bad habit with a cute one. When her dry food is at the back of her bowl she'll take one paw and flip it out then eats it off the mat. WE love that crazy cat so much!!

  5. If you put a towel or papertowel next to Momo's food bowl maybe he will just cover it with that. Momma said she used to have a doxie when she was a kid that did that and they would put one of the kitchen hand towels or papertowels down and that made it easier all the way around.
