Leaf Problems

This is a picture of Maxx , taken about a year or two ago.
If you look closely at this picture you will notice that her belly is unusually pink.
Maxx Has O. C .D (obsessive compulsive disorder) , where she licks a lot especially when she gets stressed.
Maxx will lick so much, that she licks her fur off her belly and her legs ( thats why her belly is so pink).
She has done this all of her life .
Maxx was about two years old when our vet diagnosed her with O. C. D.
The vet said it isn't that bad, or at leases not bad enough to be medicated for the problem.
He said some cats with O. C .D will lick all of their hair off from their chest down.
So you may be asking what stresses Maxx out so much.
Well its the leaves, the same ones that make our wooded areas so pretty.
The leaves changing colors don't seem to bother her much.
But then the leaves start to fall from the trees, and I guess to Maxx they must look like they are falling from the sky.
Maxx doesn't really like anything falling from the sky , she doesn't like it when it snows ,she doesn't like when it rains.( But the rain doesn't stress her out as much, unless its a thunder storm)
I said to her once " But Maxx, you live in the house."
And she said " But I can still see it through the window."

Maxx just has a funny way of dealing with change.

  1. Oh Maxx, I don't know that you have O.C.D.
Please don't lick your belly that much, you gonna thin the skin and I don't know what will happen next!
The falling leaves make a nice carpet!
    Love ya!

  8. Maxx-ey baby! You kitties have those rough tongs too.... You need to come live in CA, there are barely any leaves on our ground.

I had a medium sized bird growing up that I purchased for $50 from a pet store. My poor bird Polly had been neglected and would obsessively pluck her poor feathers on her chest. No matter how much attention she got, she would pluck pluck pluck! So we feel your pain Maxx.

  9. Oh Maxx we are so sorry you are stressed by the falling leaves...we wish for a big gust of wind up your way to blow all the leaves off the trees so that you will feel better.

  10. Maxx, I know just how you feel. I have stress because Harley is always chasing me and he plays too rough! So I do some overgrooming, too.
