Sadie had her fill of turkey, she doesn't get people food much, but with the holiday she had turkey, and she loved.
Sadie says " She loves Thanksgiving because she gets to eat turkey and a lot of it and we read some of our friends post about their adoptions."
They where all great posts.
Oh, Did anyone see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade?
There was Twenty one foot tall and fifty three foot long dachshund balloon floating down the streets of New York.
Now thats a big wiener dog!
Sadie was so excited to see a giant dachshund in the parade That she jumped up and ran to find me and said " Their going to need a bigger poop scooper!.
And she started to thing about what she could do if she where that big, like she could get her own treats because who would stop her, but then she also though she couldn't snuggle in the chair with us or play with Momo or Maxx, and then she realized that they don't make Wubbas that big either.
So she decided she is just the right size.
But that doesn't stop a dog from dreaming!
Oh, and if you didn't see Freida the dachshund you can check her out here.
Our friend Frankie asked all of his blogger buddies to post about what they are thankful for on Thanksgiving.
So here we go.
Sadie doesn't really have a rescue story, she came to us from a pet store, but what makes this pet store so different is that the owners only get the puppies and kittens from breeders they personally know and about 99% of them are local breeders.
When Sadie was in the store she wasn't even kept in a kennel, she was in a wooden box ( kinda like a whelping pen) that she shared with a little Rat Tearier pup.
When we brought Sadie home she had a little kennel cough and our vet wasn't available at that time, so we took her to his associate, but by the time we where able to get in with our vet Sadie had developed pneumonia.
After we got her to our vet, she had some chest X-rays and about two weeks of antibiotics, and then she was the little dachshund pup that I wanted since I was a little girl.
I have always loved and admired the dachshund breed.
But that doesn't mean Sadie doesn't have things to be thankful for, like her dad and I, being healthy, her grandparents, her grandmar and uncles, her cousin Jack, Momo, Maxx, her blogging buddies, her Wubbas and toy and treats.
Sadie said " What she is most thankful for is a loving family. Oh and that she is going to be eating turkey today!"
Sadie said " she will let Momo tell you about his story, because he is a rescue."
When we met Momo he was in the ASPCA, they told us that all they knew about him was that he was born in a near by town to a mama cat who was a stray herself.
They said an older lady was feeding Mo, his brothers and his mama cat, until she though she should call the ASPCA to come and get them so the kittens could get help.
The ASPCA also told us that they had to put down about 500 cats and kitten, just in our local location, in the month of July.
We were actual there because we were thinking about adopting another kitten, but when we saw Momo we just fell in love with him and knew he would be coming home with us.
We had to wait a couple of days for him come home, because the ASPCA wanted to neutered him before he could come home.
Momo said " He is thankful for his home and loving family, Sadie, that he has toys now, and especially for the old lady that was feeding him and his brothers. She is an exceptional person and thank you for being so kind."
This video was taken went we where talking to the ASPCA lady about taking Momo home.
As Sadie and I were going outside so she could squeedge and there was a big tabby cat at the bottom of the steps that took off like a shot up the little hill behind our house.
Sadie decided to call him " Mr. Tabby Cat".
It was a good thing Sadie had her leash on because when she saw Mr. Tabby Cat run up the hill she thought he wanted to play and decided to run after him.
The people in our area let their cats outside a lot, but think its a bad idea because we live by a road that has a lot of traffic.
And it is said that a cat that lives inside will live longer, simply because they aren't exposed to as much danger and things, like other peoples dogs, wild animals and traffic.
Any way Mr Tabby Cat was back to visit Sadie today but kept his distance, at least he didn't run this time and Sadie tried her best to get him to come over the fence so they could play.
Sadie said " She would like to play with Mr. Tabby Cat and become friends but if he doesn't want to, thats ok too because she plays a lot with Momo and Maxx ."
And I thought I would share some puppy pictures with you.
And yes she is in a litter box in the picture above.
The night we brought Sadie home she first met Maxx, then her grandmar, and then she went to her grandparents house where she met Midnight and had to check out that strange box of litter.
It was cold outside when Sadie came to live with us, so even though she had a coat of her own she would jump on my and whine until I would pick her up and put her in the pocket of my jacket.
And you know what she still gets cold and wants to be picked up.
Keeping to true doxie behavior, even when Sadie was a little pup, she never missed a chance to snuggle especially with her dad.
A week after Sadie come to live with us, Jack came to live with me brother.
Jacks birthday was yesterday.
So Sadie and Jack are only a day apart in age and a week apart in getting to know each other.
And from the first time they met, even though they don't live together they have become pack members.
Sadie has had a big weekend celebrating her second birthday.
All she would say was "Happy birthday to me! "
Ever since I was a little girl I aways wanted a dachshund, and Sadie Girl is my first.
And the first two years have been great, I hope for many more!
Everybody that reads our blog regularly know that one of Sadie favorite toys is her Wubba.
Momo plays a lot with Sadie's Wubba.
Momo even plays with Maxx's cat Wubba that is on a string.
So we got Momo a Wubba of his own.
Momo loved his Wubba, he would pounce on it, toss it up in the air, carry it in his mouth and then pounce on it again.
He had so much fun with he own Wubba.
Sadie and Momo would even trade their Wubbas.
But now its gone, Sadie chewed a little to much on Mo's Wubba and chewed it apart.
Momo Said " But that was my Wubba, it had a bell and some catnip in it."
And Saide said " She was really sorry and Momo can play with her (when she isn't playing with it) until she saves enough of her allowance to buy him a new one."
We have been having some really nice weather lately, so Sadie went streaking on her walk.
You see usually at this time of year Sadie has her coat on, and Sadie said "She was streaking."
I explained to her that it is normal for dogs to not wear close, but she said " This is the time of the year that she wears her sweaters and coats, and since she doesn't have them on she is streaking."
Sadie has a funny routine when she goes for her walkies to.
Her dad and I both have to go with her and I have to hold her leash.
She was just turning around to say "Hey!" when I took this picture.
After I took her leash back she left us a little present to clean up and then she just continued on with her walkie.
We don't usually do a post on Saturday, but we think this is to important to wait.
We have recently being reading about dog and cat furs being sold and traded as other animal fur.
The fur from about two million cats and dogs a year has been used in fur trade.
Dogs and cats are even bred on farms in North China so their fur is thicker for the fur trade.
Their fur and skin is used to make everything from close to even cat toys and stuffed animals which are then sold through out other countries .
Even though the tag may say it is some other fur it could still be cat or dog fur.
We don't usually post stuff like this, but we are very against this kind of thing.
I have to be honest and admit that I have always been against fur, but I don't post about my thoughts and opinions because I believe people have the right to their own opinion.
We think fur looks better on the animal, especially on our dogs and cats!
Sadie Said " She would look like a Ball Park frank with out her fur, and she doesn't like that idea."
I left a lot of details out because the details in my opinion are pretty brutal .
We encourage you to read more about this on this page or just type dog and cat fur trade into Google and read more about the trade of dog and cat fur.
We will probably be putting a banner on our blog that will link back to this post to show our support against the fur trade, and you will be able to post it to your blog.
Or if you want to post about this yourself , we strongly encourage you to do so, the more people post about this, the more people will know about the fur trade.
This is a picture of Maxx , taken about a year or two ago.
If you look closely at this picture you will notice that her belly is unusually pink.
Maxx Has O. C .D (obsessive compulsive disorder) , where she licks a lot especially when she gets stressed.
Maxx will lick so much, that she licks her fur off her belly and her legs ( thats why her belly is so pink).
She has done this all of her life .
Maxx was about two years old when our vet diagnosed her with O. C. D.
The vet said it isn't that bad, or at leases not bad enough to be medicated for the problem.
He said some cats with O. C .D will lick all of their hair off from their chest down.
So you may be asking what stresses Maxx out so much.
Well its the leaves, the same ones that make our wooded areas so pretty.
The leaves changing colors don't seem to bother her much.
But then the leaves start to fall from the trees, and I guess to Maxx they must look like they are falling from the sky.
Maxx doesn't really like anything falling from the sky , she doesn't like it when it snows ,she doesn't like when it rains.( But the rain doesn't stress her out as much, unless its a thunder storm)
I said to her once " But Maxx, you live in the house."
And she said " But I can still see it through the window."
Sadie was talking to Jack about how she needed to have a pawdicure .
Although neither Jack our Sadie like to have their nails done, they decided to have them done on Friday.
Since Sadie goes to a popular pet store to get her pawdicures, the dogs decided to walk around the store after they got their pawdicures and they made a new friend to.
So they said "Hi" to their new friend and did the usual sniffing thing.
Saturday afternoon was the usual play time for Jack, Momo and Sadie.
Saturday night was Halloween.
And then after all of that Sadie was Asking "If she could go home and go to sleep?"
Then Sunday was a day to relax and watch football and Sadie used the day to rest.
