Sadie got a Manicure

Sadie got a manicure.

I know every dog does this, but Sadie absolutely doesn't like this.

You see, I had been attempting to do her nails myself.

I got one of those Pedi Paws thing, which is a good idea, (if the animal lets you use it) because when the nail is cut it could chip or slit, which could hurt.

But as I was doing her nails with the Pedi Paw, she give me such a hard time.

I would tell her that, I'm a licensed Hair stylist and even that I was certified by the O.P.I company to give humans manicures, but she didn't care.

So the other day we took her to get her nails done.

I guess we kinda tricked her, we took her to one of those big chain pet stores that have groomers that work there in the store. ( she tough we were there to buy a toy)

The groomer who did her nails even used a dremmel tool to do her nails.

Which when used by a manicurist is just a powered nail file.( just like the Pedi Paw)

Needless to say she wasn't a happy pup, but she got over it quick, she gave the groomer a big lick before we left, and got some new treats on the way out.

Back to a normal Saturday

Our Saturday was back to normal!

Sadie was eagerly waiting for Jack to arrive at their grandparent's house.

And he came!

Sadie and Jack were so happy to have their Saturday back to normal, that almost the whole day was filled with the sound of little doggie paws running through out the whole house.

They played and then played some more.

Until Sadie got another new Wubba, then Sadie had to take some alone time with it as Jack watch, but Sadie wasn't going to share.

No matter how much Jack gave her a nudge, she wasn't sharing.

( the Wubba doesn't squeak already)

Oh Boy !

Wubba Udate

Ok, I know I post about the Wubba a lot, but this toy is special to Sadie. If she is up stairs, the Wubba is with her, if she is down stairs the Wubba is with her.

It seems like Sadie is kinda ruff with this toy, but she has it with her chewing on it, or playing a game of chase or tug with it.

Sadie doesn't let the Wubba get to far away, if you look closely at the top left corner, you can see a paw and a little nose. Guess who it is!

It looks like we will be in one of our locale pet stores to replace this one soon. I don't mind though, because Sadie has so much fun with her Wubba.

I'm told all the time that dachshunds tend to have obsessions with balls,( Jack's obsession is a ball) but Sadie's obsession is defiantly her Wubba.

Oops I Ate It

Ok, so here we go :

Maxx doesn't like human food much so she doesn't steel any food, so it is up to Sadie. Sadie sometimes feels that if it is stolen food it taste better.

When Sadie and Jack are together they share food all the time,but Jack eats different food then Sadie, so she has to steal the food from Jack's dish. They also steal each others treats.

Sadie once took a McDonald's hamburger right out of my brother in law's hand.

She has gotten up on the kitchen table (when nobody was looking) and took a piece of roast beef and there is always the temptation of the garbage can.

So there is a list of some of Sadie's little acts of thievery.

We would like to nominate our friends Twix, Reese, Kareltje, Sugar, and our good friend Martine over at I Need a Sugar Fix just adopted two really cute pups, so I'm sure she has some good stories to tell.

Two Doxies

Yeah,we saw Jack this weekend! In fact he is still here. My brother and his wife went on a day trip today, so Jack came for a sleep over again. Sadie was so excited to see him! We had a night of nonstop playing! I didn't get many photos because, I spent a lot of time playing with them. It was so fun, by the time bed time came,Sadie and Jack were so tired out, the both got in there kennels and fell right to sleep.( this is a big deal, because Jack doesn't sleep in his kennel when he is at home.) Jack was up early to go out, but when I brought him back in, I let Sadie out of her kennel(she likes to snuggle on the bed when she gets up.)and I had two doxies playing and snuggling on the bed. We are so happy so see Jack again, we miss him when he's not around and Sadie says she wants him to stay forever. Oh, and Maxx even Joined in the fun and games and played awhile with the two dogs!

Repiaring Toys

As I said before , Sadie has a few favorite toys that she really likes to play with, and you can always tell those ones.

We call this one her surgery monkey, because when we had Sadie spayed, we got this for her as a present that was waiting for her when she came home form the vet. Sadie had never spent a night away from us before.(at least after she came to live with us)

If you look closely at the picture, you can see that I have to do a lot of repairs to it. In fact I just got done sewing it now. I try to do this with all of her favorite toys, because when I go back to the store to get her a replacement, I can never find one. I'm not every good at the sewing thing, but Sadie doesn't mind, my work may not be pretty, but at least she has her favorite toys back.

Sadie Is So Spoild

Well let me start off by saying, my brother had to work again this weekend and it was another Jack less Saturday. And without Jack, Sadie was the only grandpup at my parents house again. So Sadie gets what ever she wants.( it seems)She even got her own chair on Saturday. She sat in her own chair, and looked at every body as they were talking.( just like she was listening and wanted to join in the conversation.) At one point Sadie even got up in to stake her claim on my mother's favorite chair, after my mom got up to do something, and my mother let her have the chair. (Sadie got out of her own to claim my mother chair) Hows that for a spoiled little dog.But I think Sadie is really missing Jack. If he was there Sadie would be playing with him, and not sitting on a chair. Jack is like that cousin,you know the one that your really close to and do everything with, so maybe my mom is just helping her deal with not having Jack around.

What is Up with this Squirrel

Did you ever seen a squirrel a squirrel like this? My parents went to New York state, and brought home this picture. It has a brown body with a grey tail, the tail looks like it has stripes on it. My dad said, he never saw a squirrel this color before, so he took a picture of it to show us. Although it looks different, just like any other squirrel it likes running around playing in the trees.

Hot Days

We have been having a couple of hot days with real high humidity. I mean days with the air conditioner on high and its still 80 degrees and 65% humidity inside. And even though Maxx is a indoor cat, (she never go outside without her carrier) with that kinda humidity she gets very warm. So Ive been putting Sadie's old Cooley on her. It is Sadie's Cooley from last year so its getting a little small for her now, (Sadie was only a pup last year)and it seems to fit Maxx quite well. Even though you have to soak it in water for it to stay cool, Maxx kinda likes it. She thinks its like one of her ties or her collar,( its one of her O.C.D things) and it also keeps her a little cooler too. We got Sadie a new one, so she has one that fits better.

Yah! A New Wubba

Well Sadie got her new WUBBA!!!!!!! She was so excited, she couldn't even wait for me to get it out of the package. Sadie loves playing with wubbas. I buy her the puppy size wubba, because she is a small dog and when I bought the bigger size, she didn't play with it much. Even though this one is a different color (and camo) and isn't yet covered in doggie slobber,she is loving it anyway. She is loving it so much, that she even has a little chew mark on it already!

Things to do at the Grandparents House without Jack

we had another Saturday without Jack, (for Sadie its like not seeing your favorite cousin) but she is learning that there and other things to do other then playing with Jack. One of my older post was about Midnight. Midnight is my parent's cat.She doesn't like to play with the dogs when they are together, but played quite a bit with Sadie this week.

And then when we went outside we had a visit from our old friend Mr. Chippy. He was up to his usual games.

Then we took it easy, and watched the parachutes again. We took this picture, because some of our Friends said they never saw this before. I grew up with sights like this in my backyard. (sorry its not a better picture)

The Wubba Blues

We have the Wubba blues! First I want to say that Sadie plays with all of her toys even the older ones, but her Wubba is one of her favorite. I had to get rid of her Wubba this week, because she destroyed it. Ever time I would take her Wubba, she would jump up and take it out of my hand. I finally waited until she was in her kennel for the night to get rid of it, but she is still looking for it. So this weekend we are going to Take Sadie shopping for a new Wubba.

The Name Game

Our Friend Twix over at A Wiener Dog Blog ask everybody to play a game, The Name Game . Ok, you just have to say your nick names. Sadie's real name is Mercedes Jane, because ever since I was a little girl, I have had a few things that I have been very interest in, Cars and dachshund are a couple of them. So when we got Sadie we put a lot of thought into what her name would be, she was almost a Molly. But dachshund are a German breed and my favorite German car is a Porsche Boxster, but Porsche didn't sound right. So we named her Mercedes for the Mercedes Benz, and Jane because I thought it was cute, so Sadie is a nick name.

More nick names are:

Sade ( just shorter)

Sader ( given to her by my dad)

Sadie Marie Elisabeth Jane ( my husband calls her this because he thinks its funny)

The Love Machine ( because she loves everyone)

The Flup (because when she wants to lay beside you she just flops down)

Little Girl (because she is small)

Baby girl (because she is our baby girl)

Monkey But ( just a cute name I sometimes call her)

Wiener ( is what my cousins call her )

Sadie Baby ( is what the aunt calls her)

Grand Pup ( my mother call her and Jack her grand pups)

A New Litter Box for Maxx

Over the weekend we had to get a new litter box for Maxx. She has had an automated litter box for years, so for Maxx its nothing new. I know that cats prefer to go in a clean litter box, but Maxx has O.C.D,(obsessive compulsive disorder) which means for her, when things are different and out of the ordinary she gets a little stressed out. Like when the old litter box wasn't working right, Maxx would only go to the bathroom once or twice a day.(I know this, because I had to keep it clean) Our vet told us a few years a go, that Maxx had O.C.D .So since it is a mild case and she doesn't have to take medication for it yet, we decided that we would do little extra things for her (like the automated litter box) to keep her happy. And anyway some of Maxx's quirks are cute. Like how she likes to wear stuff like her little tie. She also is very picky about how she drinks too, Maxx will only drink bottled water from their pet water fountain,(she shares it with Sadie) and she tastes it like a fine wine taster before she takes a drink. But anyway she gave us a thumbs up on the new litter box!

No Jack

This Saturday we went to my parents. (like we always do) Sadie always looks forward to seeing ever body and playing with Jack. But my brother had to work this Saturday and didn't come,so that meant Jack didn't come either. Sadie did how ever enjoy not having to share my parents with him.

So without Jack there, Sadie was looking for something to do(after she visited with every body and played with her toy)so I put her Cooley bandanna on and we went outside.

My parents live by a small airport that has parachuting services. Sadie is so amused with that, she sits watching them jump out of the air plane and watches them until they are out of sight.(you can even hear them when they yell to each other)
